Making music with Ti Rakau sticks
Room 11 spent the afternoon learning to follow the song
and patterns using ti rakau sticks.
and patterns using ti rakau sticks.
First we made the ti rakau sticks by rolling newspaper or magazines tightly
and sellotaping them together.
Next we had to break the song down into patterns and learn each pattern separately before them altogether to perform the song. Some patterns were harder
than others, but we got there!
Watch our awesome performance below.

Year 5 EOTC trips
In Week 4 of Term 1, the Year 5's went on their EOTC trip to Eastern Beach and to Tree Adventures.
We had a great time on both days and were lucky to have the support of lots of parents and family on both days. Luckily the weather held out and was pretty close to perfect on both days.
There was lots of learning and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone,
as well as fun, laughter from ALL involved!
Check out our trip to Eastern Beach below.

Breezy Summer days...
During this hot humid weather we've been having, we decided that because we couldn't go to the beach, then we'd bring the beach to Room 11!
We used mixed media to give our art a 3D effect. First we ripped coloured
paper and layered it up like waves and then we did the same to textured
paper to imitate sand.
Next we designed and coloured in our 'Kiwi Summer Jandals', then we glued then onto corrugated card. Lastly we glued the sandals on to the 'sand'.
Look at our materpieces!
